INTRODUCTION
The Long Beach--Qingdao Association, in a joint effort with Boeing's Asian American Association, is hosting a Chinese New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 24, 2007. The event will be held in the airplane hanger space of the Da Vinci Restaurant , Long Beach Airport, Long Beach, California.
We will have as our guests, the Mayor of Long Beach and the Chinese Consul General, as well as other dignitaries.
We are seeking table sponsors and hoped you might find the timing to be good for sponsorship consideration for your business. Proceeds of this event go to the Dr. Victor L. Chen Scholarship Fund.
BACKGROUND
Long Beach -- Qingdao Association is an official Sister Cities Organization between Long Beach, California and Qingdao, China. Established in 1985, our mission is to promote understanding between the peoples of the two cultures through educational, business, and cultural exchanges (see www.lbqa.org). Our membership spans the Greater Los Angeles area including the five surrounding counties, and consists mostly of individuals and businesses doing business with China.
Points of Consideration for Potential Sponsors:
- Prestigious Scholarships -- As non-profit organization with a focus on supporting student exchanges and cultural programs, the Long Beach -- Qingdao Association is honored to have received ongoing financial support from organizations such as the Port of Long Beach, Boeing, BP, KYL, Cal State Long Beach, etc., as well as strong recognition and support of the Office of Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles.
- Community Support -- Proceeds of these events got to the LBQA Student Scholarship/Grant Fund, which is used to assist establish exchange programs with universities in China, and to send and receive exchange students between the City of Long Beach and these universities.
- Networking Opportunities -- Invite your customers and executives to attend this event and meet the Chinese Consul Generals, Long Beach City Officials, and International Business Executives.
- Major Chinese Media Coverage -- Our events are covered by major Chinese TV and print media, as well as Los Angeles and Long Beach based newspapers and business journals.
- Future Media Value -- The City of Long Beach hosted the sailing events in the 1984 Olympics. The City of Qingdao is the site for the sailing event in the 2008 Bejing Olympics. The Long Beach -- Qingdao Association is currently providing assistance through knowledge share with the Planning Committee in Qingdao in putting world-class sailing events. We have sent a delegation to Qingdao this past September, and we expect many more similar delegations in the near future, potentially capturing additional media attention.
