Chinese Film and Culture Festival at California State University, Long Beach


October 20 - 26, 2011

California State University, Long Beach is hosting the Chinese Film and Culture Festival. The free, week-long event will focus on the unique treasures of Tianjin province in China, and includes screenings of eight recent Chinese films and a cultural heritage and craft exhibit. The Opening Ceremony, which takes place on Thursday, October 20 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, features performances by the Peking Opera Troupe and a Bian Lian (Face-Changing) performance. The film screenings and cultural exhibitions, which include fabric sculpture, papercutting, kites, clay sculpture, and a live music performance by the Chinese band Gray Wolf, will be held in the University Student Union, and all events are free and open to the public.
