Every year, the LBQA hosts several events, planned and executed by our volunteer members.  If you have ideas for events, we may be able to help put them together with you!

Chinese New Year Party – Early every year, we bring Chinese Lion Dancers, musicians, magicians, and other entertainers together for a fun party, including a festive all-Chinese meal!  Bring the entire family, as there is something for everyone.  We keep the price modest and provide extra activities for the little tykes, so their elders can enjoy the food and entertainment.

Annual Luncheon – Near the end of the year, we invite the Chinese Consul General and usually a business expert to discuss topics of relevance to the economy and trade between the two countries.  For 20 years, the consul general of China in Los Angeles has graced our event with his presence, and it’s always a sell-out crowd.

Visiting Delegations  From time to time, we bring a group to Qingdao for a special event or our friends/officials in Qingdao bring a delegation here.  Quite often, California State University, Long Beach, provides educational seminars to people from Qingdao and we are occasionally invited to meet with them or speak on their topic of interest.

Seminars, Meetings, and Cultural Treats – From time to time, we sponsor extraordinary events or “extras” to introduce Chinese culture and people to our local membership.  Past events have included a dumpling-making afternoon, photo exhibits, presentations from our scholarship recipients about their travels in China, events welcoming delegations from Qingdao, special speakers, etc.  We welcome innovative ideas for events!
