Diane Jacobus
(LBQA Liaison to the Port of Long Beach)

Diane Jacobus is the current LBQA Liaison to the Office of the Mayor of Long Beach.  She serves as the Senior Advisor to Mayor Beverly O'Neill.  Jacobus has been a member of her staff since 1993, and currently serves as the operations officer for the Mayor's office.  Jacobus' areas of responsibility include Volunteer Coordinator for the Legislative Department, the Mayor's special projects, protocol, staff to League of California Cities, Mayors Educational Policy Advocacy Group in conjunction with the National League of Cities, liaison to the Public Corporation for the Arts and Sister Cities of Long Beach, Inc.  Issue areas include international trade, youth and education programs, the homeless, diversity and the faith based community.

Jacobus is a past chair of the Long Beach Public Library Foundation and in 2004 was honored by the California Library Association with its prestigious President's Award for outstanding contributions in support of public libraries.  She also coordinated the Mayors three campaigns for election, including the management of the Mayor's successful write-in campaign for a third term in 2002.

Jacobus' active involvement in the LBQA is greatly due to personal experience: ''As a young girl, I briefly lived in Shanghai which left a lasting impression on me.  China continues to hold memories that are renewed each time I visit [the country].''
